Shops have shut, streets have emptied, the homeless crisis is evident on every street corner, no matter what neighbourhood you live in. Like so many cities, LA has been weird in Covid times. Disappointed to come home to my rags (because when you’ve seen this much extra, everything else seems so plain). Sad to leave the sequins and the sparkles.

Lizzo looked resplendent in a white cape sort-of-a-thing (one gets the impression this woman is offered a sample or two to wear and then makes the designer go back and reinvent said sample three times over until it is the most unique piece ever created by a house).
Everybody looks like a somebody when they’re wearing Gucci. They were as sparkly and spangly as the stars up above this was a serious guest list. Beaming cinema lights lined each end of it these could be seen from all over the city of angels. We were then ushered outside, onto Hollywood Boulevard. I arrived at the adjacent Roosevelt Hotel with wristband, proof of vaccine, and proof of a negative Covid test.
